Growing up in Stensia wasn’t easy.
When I was a young boy, my father would return from his travels with many incredible tales and songs that he had heard; mighty warriors triumphing over evil and earning the praise of all who heard of them. These stories never seemed real to me, all my life I had seen the suffering of others at the hands of the vampires. Stensia had no hero’s, even still I longed for these stories and would sit and listen to them for hours dreaming of a world where hero’s existed.
As I grew older and times darkened my father’s journeys kept him away for increasingly long periods, when he would return I would eagerly wait for the newest story but as the years went on the stories stopped, it seemed as though there were no hero’s left to talk about. On my tenth birthday tragedy struck when I found that by best friend was missing, the local guard searched for days but he was never found. It was in this tragic moment that I decided that if Stensia was going to have a hero, it would have to be me. I spent all of my time training in the art of swordsmanship when I wasn’t training I spent my time watching the local guards practice. Some of these men saw my potential and began to teach me, informally at first, but soon I was joining their training sessions.
One day, word came that a band of werewolves had been ravaging the country side at a high rate, and the attack was very close to my town. The town’s people were frightened and the guards promised to protect them, but I knew they were helpless against a group of werewolves. I knew I had to take action, I rallied the men of the town to stand up and protect their homes, and taught them some simple fighting techniques they could use with their farming tools and other ways to protect their homes. The fighting was brutal so many people died but we won the day. The deaths of so many people haunt me but the people were convinced that I had saved the day. They called me a hero and it wasn’t long before I received a message from the Arms of Avacyn, inviting me to the Elgaud Grounds to train in the ways of a paladin.
This was my chance to become a real hero, I left home and began my training as a paladin, the mightiest and most righteous of all heroes. I vowed that I would become strong enough to destroy the evil of the world. I had never cared much for religion, but through the training and tutelage of the Church of Avacyn I found a ray of hope.
After Graduating from the Elgaud Grounds I left to travel the world as an Arm of Avacyn, seeking out people in need, protecting the weak and defeating evil. The darkness continues to grow but as long as I draw breath there will be a hero to stand against it.
